Waybuloo celebrates Chinese New Year!
Waybuloo fans in Asia celebrated Chinese New Year last week with the help of the Piplings!
CBeebies Asia joined in celebrating 2011, the Year of the Rabbit, by creating their own special colourful packs of hóngbāo which included Waybuloo on the front – making them extra special for the Cheebies celebrating the New Year.
Hóngbāo are traditionally red cash envelopes which are given to the younger generations by their parents, grandparents, relatives and friends as gifts along with mandarin oranges. Red is the most important colour to the Chinese as it symbolises life, happiness and good luck. This act also symbolizes the adults ‘well wishes and blessings to usher in the new year. The money is intended only to give a little joy to the children; more important is the expression of good fortune represented by the red paper!
Chinese New Year is also known as the spring festival and is the most important celebration in the Chinese calendar.
We wish all our viewers a “buloo” Chinese New Year!
